Born in Qingpu, Shanghai, Zhang Fei carries the typical gentle and calm temperament of Jiangsu and Zhejiang people,
which complements the style of the "Bela Design" wooden brand he founded.
Once he saw a wooden ornament without any special shape in a store in Hong Kong,
and the owner's love for this item deeply touched him: "How can something without any function deeply attract that owner and me?
The only answer is' wood itself has great charm '!" If there is a beautiful wood grain and a good touch, it may have such charm.
From then on, Zhang Fei began to focus on the design of wooden products, striving to showcase
the original and beautiful wood grain as well as a good touch to the fullest extent possible.
The "Yun · Dong" candle holder series was originally designed based on Zhang Fei's life experience.
Sometimes when he quiets down, he lights candles. "People who know how to light candles actually
enjoy the process of manipulating the decorations on the table.
They always feel that changing the placement method may create a more beautiful shape.
This hazy touch inspired Zhang Fei's design ideas, so he designed the candle holder in two styles,
both front and back can be arranged, and multiple arrangements can create a "rhythm".
In addition, the wood grain itself has the most natural and beautiful patterns, so he was able to fully showcase the original texture of wood in the design process.
As an independent designer, Zhang Fei has always pursued the best balance between functionality and aesthetics.
"I have always believed that design is infinite, but in fact, functionality and aesthetics do not conflict.
At the 2012 Shanghai Fashion Furniture Exhibition, his wooden dolls received a lot of attention.
The original intention behind the creation of this work was simply to add some fun to the dull office life.
Zhang Fei used simple brushstrokes to outline the happy expressions on the face, while also storing a circle of paper clips around the doll's neck.
In this way, the doll has a function to attach a sticky note, which can be used as a tool for leaving messages and conveying emotions.
At the exhibition, Mr. Hidemi, the founder of Japan's PLUS-D, played with the dolls designed by Zhang Fei for a long time and praised them as "very simple and beautiful".
Zhang Fei tends to simplify design articles. He likes a low-key style and tirelessly seeks beauty from simplicity,
allowing users to discover more joy in life. I have always believed that products themselves have no life,
but they can influence or change people's moods. As a designer, I should strive to inject life into products, "Zhang Fei said." This is my design philosophy
