In early spring and February, we met Bai Gong Min Yi
2017-03-30

In late March 2017, rapeseed flowers were in full bloom when an exhibition named "Early Spring February" quietly bloomed at the Bishan Industrial

and Marketing Society in Yixian County, Anhui Province. From folk art to daily design, the exhibition seeks more possibilities

for reviving folk art through the "collaborative creation" of designers and craftsmen.

This exhibition, led by seven designers and two craftsmen from Yixian County, explores more possibilities in "daily life" together.

There are "Chess" jointly produced by designers Yi Chunyou, Tan Xuejiao, and Yixian Master Yao, "Black and White Interpretation"

by designer/craftsman Chen Yingze and Yixian Master Wang, "Leaves" by designer/craftsman Chen Fang, "Chemicals" by designer Li Sien,

"Past and Present" by Japanese designer Daishima Noriko, "Hundred Bowl Sheng" by craftsman Zhao Ming, and "Paper Lights Up for You" by designer Zhang Fei.

Paper is a very interesting material with unique characteristics such as tactile sensation, transparency, color, texture, and shape reconstruction.

This time, the product that uses paper will start from lighting fixtures, turning paper into pulp and then restructuring the shape.

Let paper take on a new form, which actually originates from a very ancient handicraft.

The revitalization of traditional handicrafts requires finding opportunities to connect with modern daily life.

We are still trying out the paper lamp series products, hoping to use light to illuminate these once glorious handicrafts for daily use.

From Bai Gong Min Yi to designing daily life.

In this spatial exhibition, curator Gu Qing combined modern wooden design with ancient utensils, allowing two different temporal objects

to have a relationship and dialogue in the spatial dimension, while giving visitors free space to explore the significance of this exhibition.

On the opening day, people of all ages and genders flocked to the supply and marketing cooperative to explore the situation.

There were many elderly people who were busy with farming and household chores. Wood was their most familiar material, including music boxes,

fish pens, and wooden incense sticks. These wooden designs are youthful, novel, and fun for them.

We are honored to share the design experience of logs with everyone.
